Little Dot 2++
The Little Dot 2++ or LD2++ is a tube headphone amplifier that is made by Little Tube. It uses two Mullard EF92 and two 4P1S-J tubes. I bought this amp to drive my Sennheiser HD650s when I am listening to CD player.
This is my first tube amp I am quite impressed with the sound and build quality. What I love about the LD2++ is the silky warm sound coming from this amp. The sound isn't extremely bright like my previous Headroom Total Bithead amp which is good for extended periods of listening.
The only problems that I have encountered is the extreme heat that is produced when it is on. The entire LD2++ is hot to touch. Also when I was using my Laptop -> EMU 0404 -> LD2++ ->HD650 setup I could hear all the static noise from my laptop. I purchased a RCA filter which stopped all the popping and buzzing, but it also diminished the sound quality. Now I just use the EMU 0404 to power my HD650s.
Overall I am pleased by the performance of the LD2++. This entry level tube amp has great quality for its price. The LD2++ is no longer being offered and is replaced by the LD2 MK. I do not plan on upgrading the amp, but instead buying different replacement tubes for different sounds. I will be keeping this amp for a very long time.
